22 May 2019
What fun we had at National Simultaneous Storytime on Wednesday, 22nd May! Our Early Stage 1 classes, KW, KL, and K-2M, "shook to the max" with their maracas and Mr. Lindsay during a very lively rendition of Alpacas with Maracas by Matt Cosgrove. Some lucky students were also chosen to play drums, guitar and even a huge set of symbols!
Benefits of reading aloud to children include; building vocabulary, improving reading comprehension, promoting empathy, reducing stress, boosting brain development, exposing children to different experiences, developing communication skills, building self-esteem and deepening connections with family, peers and teachers.
Organisers of National Simultaneous Storytime, the Australian Library and Information Association, reported a staggering 1,138,889 children participated in Storytime this year, so we are very proud to have contributed to this great result here at Athelstane PS. A special thank you to Mr. Lindsay for a great reading and entertaining us all.
